While checking out all the abandoned structures along US-2 in the Upper Peninsula, I came across a little roadside oddity: a sculpture of a crane and a mosquito sitting in a weedy, wet (possibly swampy) area off US-41 (US-2) on 255 Lane.

This odd art piece has puzzled motorists for a number of years. It began as a sculpture of a robin and mosquito, calling the two “Michigan’s State Birds” but since then, the robin has been removed, sent to Harbor Springs, and replaced with a crane.

The official names of these two are the "Gladstone Crane" and the "Life Size Upper Peninsula Mosquito".
