Let me start out by saying that Ludington has some of the most beautiful Lake Michigan beaches that you will ever see.

My wife and i will be celebrating our 12 year anniversary this weekend and we are headed off to beautiful Ludington, Michigan. (visitludington.com)

Why Ludington? So many different reasons. First of all, there are so many beaches to discover in Ludington.

You'll find miles of clean, sandy beaches along Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake. In fact, last summer Lori and I rented a boat and made a day of it on Hamlin Lake. We swam, went tubing, and snacked a lot.

One of the best beaches in Ludington is Steams Park. This is a very popular beach with free parking, concessions, playground, skate park. and mini golf.

Another reason why we love it there so much is because there is no hustle and bustle like the big cities. It's very relaxing and lots of fun.

There are two Ludington lighthouses to check out. The North Breakwater Lighthouse is in downtown Ludington at the end of Ludington Avenue.

Then there's the Big Sable Point Lighthouse. This light house is within the Ludington State Park just north of town.

Ludington State Park is an excellent state park. Midwest Living magazine voted the Ludington State Park the #1 state park in the Midwest, with seven miles of beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline.

Oh and by the way, the next time you plan your trip to Ludington, don't forget about the House of Flavors ice cream parlor. They have the best ice cream and they feature a restaurant as well.

Ludington is such a beautiful area and you can walk for miles along the Lake Michigan shoreline. It's a great summer vacation for anyone and everyone and it's my favorite Michigan summer destination! (visitludington.com)
