The Fourth of July is just about here and that means it's the time of year for fireworks, grilling and enjoying time outdoors with friends and family. There are several planned  area Fourth of July celebrations and fireworks displays to help you celebrate Independence Day.

The City of Lansing includes a parade stepping off at 11 a.m. on July 4 on Allegan Street and will march east to Capitol Avenue, north to Ottawa Street and will finish going west on Ottawa Street.

The parade will be followed by clowns, antique and specialty automobiles, musicians, dance troops, community groups and military units at the Adado riverfront Park.  Fireworks at dusk.

Fireworks will be set off from Cooley Law School Stadium following the Lugnuts game against the Dayton Dragons on July 4.

The annual Meridian Township Fourth of July fireworks will be held at Central Park South, 1990 Central Park Drive, Okemos at 10 p.m. July 4.  Best viewing areas are located on the north side of the Meridian Mall and the Township Municipal Complex on Marsh Road.  The Lansing State Journal has all of the Fourth of July information.
