I'll start out by saying I'm not someone who enjoys gambling. I'm not all that fond of the prospect of risking money I've earned. That, and I've been to Las Vegas once and spent way too much time on the casino floor handing to the house. I came home, hungover, with a lot less money and a sunburn. You know what? A new study has revealed that I'm not alone in Michigan.

It seems that Michiganders aren't throwing cash around like high rollers at every casino across the state. We're not even close, even though we have more casinos than most states.
Michigan's Casino Scene: Fiscally Responsible or Just Boring?
With 26 casinos scattered across the state, you'd think we'd have more skin in the game. But no, yeah, no. Despite having one of the higher numbers of casinos compared to other states, our spending doesn't reflect it.
Why? Maybe we're too busy enjoying the lakes during the warmer months and snowed in for the rest. However, Rhode Island has a similar climate and only two casinos, yet according to the latest study commissioned by Casino Reports, folks there spent a jaw-dropping $707,517,058 in 2023 alone. That's just over $3 billion in each of the state's casinos.
