Over 70,000 residents were affected by the boil water advisory over the weekend, including my family.  We spent most of the weekend boiling water based on the advisory.

Officials lifted the boil water advisory for customers of the East Lansing Meridian Township Water and Sewer Authority.  It was lifted about 1 p.m. Sunday after a second round of tests showed no contamination.

The advisory was issued Friday morning after a problem was discovered at the East Lansing, Meridian Water Treatment Plant and affected about 70,000 residents who are connected to the system.

As soon and I received the advisory, I went to the nearest store and purchased several cases of bottled water.  Residents were advised to boil tap water for one minute and cool it before using it to drink, brush teeth, prepare food or wash dishes.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
