Board of Water & Light Expecting No Rate Increases
For the third straight year, the Board of Water & Light is expecting no rate increases for 96,000 electric customers and 55,000 water customers.
BWL's general manager, confirmed his proposal on Wednesday. It is expected to be approved by the city owned utility's Board of Commissioners by next month.
The general manager also said he will recommend a multi year plan that would allow BWL customers to prepare for future increases, starting with one likely in 2018.
The increases are expected to help pay for infrastructure improvements, including a plan to put the coal burning Eckert Plant offline by 2020. Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
