Even living in a pineapple under the sea does not mean that you are immune from the reach of the cancel-culture.  Just ask Sponge Bob SquarePants.

The U.S. Sun has the story about Sponge Bob and todays society.

The beloved cartoon recently had two episodes pulled out of it's rotation due to a couple of questionable story lines.  One of which had to due with a virus storyline, "Kwarantined Krab"  was from 2019.  The episode featured a health inspector who found a case of the "clam flu" at the Krusty krab and then quarantined all the customers inside.  That episode was removed before the season was released on DVD.

A Sponge Bob episode from 2003 also took a hit.  This one had to deal with Mr. Krabs who was going through a bit of a mid-life crisis, and a 'panty raid' was brought up.  Obviously this one did not go over to well with the 'higher ups' at Nickelodeon and the episode was removed.

According to Wikipedia the term 'cancel culture or call-out-culture' is a modern form of ostracism where someone is thrust out of social or professional circles.

The Buzzfeed on line has more on this 'cancel culture' that has been growing in society for the past few years and has even hit many celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres.  It came as quite a shock to fans of the comedian / tv host when Ellen was called out for fostering a toxic work environment on the set of her daytime show.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling was 'cancelled'  after she made several comments that were deemed insensitive toward transgendered people.  Vogue editor Anna Wintour found herself 'canceled' after being called out for her history of not supporting or promoting Black editors, writers, photographer's and designers.  Even singer Bryan Adams took a hit for sending out what many said was a racist Instagram post.

Celebrities have been doing stuff for years that ends up getting them in hot water, but now days everyone is learning they have to be extra cautious and choose the tweets and comments they make very carefully, or they will find themselves canceled.
