Baseball’s Cheating Scandal and Spring Training
Major league baseball has been in the new, a lot lately, even though it is the off season. The cheating scandal with sign stealing continues to unfold. The latest being that some Houston Astros players wore 'devices that buzzed' as part of the scandal.
However with the bad news comes some good, Spring Training begins next month for the Detroit Tigers in Lakeland, Florida. After last year's disastrous season, fans are hoping for a much better season in 2020.
They seem to be off to a good start. Virtually all of the Tigers top prospects will be in Lakeland next month as the team kicks off their spring training. The Tigers front office released a list of 25 non-roster players who will be invited down to 'Tiger Town' this spring. Some of the more prominent prospects include pitchers Casey Mize, Matt Manning, Alex Faedo and Tarik Skubal.
Four of the players were previously on the 40-man roster within the last year and are back after clearing waivers and being re-signed or outrighted.
Regardless, spring training, for many of us, is a sign that winter will eventually end and fun days at the ball park will begin.
