An Open Letter to Michigan Fans: Don’t Blame Your Loss on the Refs
Now that the smoke has cleared, MSU is ranked 5th in the AP rankings after defeating the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday in "The Woodshed."
It was just a great game. MSU whittled the score when they were down 16 points and came back and won the contest. MSU won 37-33 and they covered the spread.
The Transfer Portal Guru Kenneth Walker III was unbelievable. He had 23 carries for 197 yards and five touchdowns. To me, he has to be the front runner for the Heisman Trophy as we speak. He was absolutely great. It was just a great game for the masses.
There were so many people on campus, and I have never seen so many people ever at an MSU sporting event.
Now, let's talk about how Michigan fans are dealing with the loss. There were some questionable calls and some close calls made by the referees, and many Michigan fans are blaming their loss on the refs. I watched this game over, and the majority of the calls were correct. That being said, there were a few questionable calls that probably shouldn't have been made or maybe were missed. That's just football.
There are always going to be penalties that don't go your way or things you think were missed. To say that the only reason Michigan lost is because of bad officiating diminishes what MSU accomplished. It was a complete turnaround of persistence and intensity that won that game for MSU.
Michigan had many chances to win that game, but they didn't. You can't cry about all of the bad calls and ignore everything that your team did wrong. If you do that, you'll never improve.
You have to give MSU and Mel Tucker credit for a solid comeback. The refs didn't take the win away from Michigan; MSU fought through adversity and played hard enough to win it for themselves.
