I was legit planning on celebrating my next birthday by treating myself to a trip to England. I have always wanted to go. It's on my bucket list. I even started scouting out flights and costs.

I signed up for one of those price monitors.

In the past couple of days, the cost of my flight has gone from $935, $919, to $656! And I was really thinking I should go ahead and book this thing right now.

However, pandemic, quarantining once you get there, cancellations, postponements, etc.

And then it went back up to $925 so there's that.

Mind you I had considered this trip pre-pandemic.

But things SEEMED to be getting better. States reopening and globally it looked like we were getting better for a hot minute.

But no sooner than you can say we're rolling back restrictions, we're reinstating restrictions as numbers begin to spike all over.

Especially in Arizona, Texas, and Florida.

And with those numbers going up you'd think that we'd be doing everything possible to scale back things and get them under control.

Not the airline industry apparently.

American isn't the first airline to do so. United and Spirit airlines are among the airline's already booking flights to capacity. United CEO Scott Kirby has said there's no such thing as social distancing on a plane.

"American will continue to notify customers and allow them to move to more open flights when available, all without incurring any cost.'' (USA Today)

So just when I was getting comfortable and getting ready to dip my toe back into traveling via plane, they've kind of let me know where they stand on this whole Covid-19 thing.

I already had issues with being stuck in a tube breathing everyone's recirculated air but this statement of "there's no such thing as social distancing on a plane" from the airlines pretty much seals the deal for me.

At least currently, Southwest appears to be sticking to their guns. For now.
