It was murder.
But the intended victim wasn’t even in the area at the time.
Two innocent people were killed: a mother and her young daughter.

Four gang members were charged with murder after the bodies of a mom and daughter were discovered burned to death in an apartment house fire during the final months of 2005. The fire was set intentionally by the four men, hoping to lure out a rival gang member; once outside, they were going to shoot him.

However, the intended victim was not even home.

The fire at the former Westwood Manor Apartments in Flint’s Mt. Morris Township ravaged through twenty-four apartments in two buildings, destroying all. The 25-year-old mother and her 7-year-old daughter were trapped on the third floor and they ended up dying in the blaze.

The four men were charged with felony murder, arson and conspiracy to commit murder and/or arson. Their intended victim did not escape the gang’s wrath, however; he was killed less than a day later at Flint's Club Xclusive. The gang members ended up being charged for that death as well.

The apartment building was completely abandoned in 2007.

A little over twenty years after the deaths, in November 2025, demolition began on the apartment complex, getting rid of an eyesore and with hopes of eradicating the bad vibe that surrounded it.

Now take a look inside these apartments, before the demolition began...
