Abandoned Farmland: An Oasis Sitting Within Lansing’s Concrete & Steel
In an area hidden within the Lansing suburbs lies an interesting patch of land that the videographer believed may have – at one time – been farmland...now abandoned.
On the land are a good number of apple trees and a few remains that leads one to think it could have been farmland many decades ago. There are no buildings left whatsoever, but little patches here and there that appear as if there may have been buildings on the site – maybe a farmhouse – in the past.
This is a beautiful piece of land, with lots of healthy greenery and shrubbery. Hardly any trash n the whole place...almost perfect for picnicking. The sad part is, according to the videographer, is that this gorgeous piece of property will probably be all bulldozed to make way for more suburbia housing and cul-de-sacs.
As the man says, it’s almost like an oasis, sitting alone in a sea of suburban housing, restaurants, shops, concrete, and steel.
On a big tree there are some ropes still hanging, that appear to have been part of a child’s swing. There is also a curious little structure about three times the size of a bird house that possibly could have been a place where someone once stored firewood or logs.
Take a good look at the images in the gallery below...these scenes may soon be gone, after an invasion of bulldozers and construction machinery....which are already just a stone’s throw away.
Does anyone know for sure whether this was once farmland or not?
