Another interesting abandoned bridge is the Edison Lake Road Bridge, also known as the French Landing Bridge near Belleville. The bridge crosses the Huron River about halfway between Belleville and Romulus.

This concrete bridge was built in 1918, with many majestic arches that look like they belong in Dracula’s castle in Transylvania.

The dam upstream began operating in 1925, built by the Detroit Edison Company. Blocking the water flow, the dam created Belleville Lake, which flooded the town of Rawsonville – a town that had already been abandoned by the 1880s. Whether or not there are any remains of Rawsonville under the lake, nevertheless it is considered to be an underwater ghost town.

The bridge closed permanently in the 1970s.

Looking at views from on top of the Edison Lake Road Bridge, it's easy to see why many bikers and walkers still travel across this branch-covered bridge, which is said to be an excellent fishing spot.

You’ll find the Edison Lake Road Bridge north of the Wabash / Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge and between Haggerty Road and East Huron River Drive.
