I grew up in an automotive factory family and as I child I began to understand that Michigan was the center of the automotive world. As I got older and got closer to the job market, those jobs that were once available to my family moved across our country's borders.

Living south of Detroit and Pontiac and north of Flint, 3 cities known for their automotive opportunities, I began hearing of plant closures and plants moving to Mexico, Canada, and overseas. I also saw what happened to those cities after those factories left and I thought I would never hear of automotive job opportunities to once again come back to Michigan. That has changed.

I think Michigan as well as the rest of America learned during the pandemic that making key components for products we all need is important that those components are made in this state and the rest of the country.

With the electric vehicle boom becoming the new gold rush in America, it's exciting to see steps being put into place to build those batteries here in the Great state of Michigan.

According to WOOD, the Ford Motor Company will invest $3.5 billion in a new electric vehicle battery plant that will create 2,500 jobs in the Marshall area hence lowering the cost of electric vehicles and giving lots of growth opportunities for the region and its surrounding businesses.
