The celebration is on at Patriarche Park, where kids came out to play and officials were able to formally dedicate a years-long effort to upgrade a local playground.

The new playscape has received rave reviews from park patrons of all ages.  There are trees to climp and swings to fly on, and garden seating for adults still in the works.

The 1.2 acre playground is handicap accessible, has a rubberized play surface, walkways and a rain garden.

The new playscape replaces a former structure built with help from the community in 1995.  Here's the latest from the Lansing State Journal.
