A proposed $2 million in riverfront updates would mean huge gains for the city of Lansing, both in attracting tourists and additional amenities for locals.

The updates, including a sandy beach and lighted forest features, will potentially begin construction this summer and be completed next year.

The Capital Region Community Foundation plan is a $1 million matching grant, which already has received a significant boost from a $400,000 pledge for naming rights to the new park from the Rotary Club of Lansing Foundation.

Community support and concerted efforts like this are what has made Lansing the city it is today.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
