The Eaton County Board of Commissioners adopted a $34.9 million general fund budget that will cut about 20 full time public safety positions, including road patrol deputies.

According to Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich, eight certified police officers and four certified corrections officers are among the jobs eliminated.

That means there will be fewer patrol officers to serve residents who live outside of Delta Township.  The remaining cuts are civilian staff positions in the sheriff's department.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
