According to the Lansing State Journal, Groesbeck Golf Course became the first public golf course built in Lansing, named after Gov. Alexander Groesbeck, who helped open the iconic municipal layout to the public, 90 years ago on June 19.

On a personal note, I've been golfing at Groesbeck for the past 20 years.  The Groesbeck course has been declared by professionals of national fame to possess excellent possibilities.

It's been recognized for years as one of the best municipal courses in Michigan, and its earned that.  It has the vintage characteristics of courses built in the early years.  By today's standards its not long, but its still very challenging.
