Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero confirmed his support of the ballot proposal before council members at their general meeting.

Bernero seeks a ballot proposal asking voters for a 6 year, 1.0 mill dedicated tax levy that would target neighborhood streets and sidewalk maintenance.

Bernero's administration estimates it will cost more than $25 million to restore Lansing's neighborhood sidewalks and $211 million to restore the city streets to average condition.

"We will pay for it one way or another. We have got to do something.  We can no longer wait for the state."  A quote from Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero in the Lansing State Journal.
