More than 1 million Michiganders are expected to hit the road this Labor Day weekend for one last trip.  And the Michigan Department of Transportation is trying to help ensure smooth travel experiences, suspending many projects for the holiday weekend.

AAA Travel projects about 35 million Americans will travel 50 or more miles from home during the holiday weekend.  About 1.12 million of those come from Michigan.

Those headed up north can expect gas prices in Bay City, Gaylord and Grayling to average about $3.69, according to MichiganGasPrices.com

But for those who will be staying close to home, there will be plenty to do outdoors this weekend.  The Lansing State Journal has more!
