Omigosh...check out this old late 1940's commercial for Oldsmobile's "Hydra-Matic" Automatic Transmission, straight off the Lansing assembly line.

Judging by the road and countryside, it looks like it very well coulda just rolled off the Lansing assembly line, driven into the country and filmed.

Either way, it's a Lansing product and fun to see how these automobiles were promoted and advertised back then.

In the early 1940's, Oldsmobile became the first auto manufacturer to equip their automobiles with a fully automatic transmission, which they lovingly (?) dubbed "Hydra-Matic" - four forward speeds and no clutch with the gear arm on the steering wheel base.
