Taken from the slow movement of his String Quartet No. 1, Kernis arranged the ethereal Musica Celestisfor string orchestra, and brought it to a new audience.Chopin wrote hisPiano Concerto No. 1 at the tender age of 20, and who better to perform this imaginative and youthful composition than 20-year-old virtuoso Colton Peltier, making his debut with the Lansing Symphony. Mendelssohn’s long-awaited trip to Italy inspired his joyful and energetic Symphony No. 4; a reflection of his own experiences and impressions of his journey.
