Where Did The Word “Margarine” Originate From?

The word "margarine" is an invention. In 1813, French chemist M.E. Chevreul discovered that fats are composed of fatty acids and named one of them "margaric acid" because it glistened with lustrous pearly drops that reminded him of the Greek word for pearl, ‘margaron’ or ‘margarites.’
