Schools throughout the district will start classes about two hours later on Wednesdays.  The change opens more training time for teachers.

The shifted schedule allows the district to offer teacher training on a more consistent basis.  Depending on their age, students also receive the benefit of extra time for catching up on homework, extracurricular activities or simply extra rest at midweek.

The changes will not alter the number of instruction days for students.  The late start will eliminate most of the district's half days for teacher in service training.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
