If you spend any amount of time online, then you have probably seen all the little "best of- most beautiful" stories about Michigan that involve food, best food trucks, best breakfast, or most beautiful vacation spot,  Michigan's most beautiful beaches, well you get my drift. This morning, I got up super early and was online when I found this article on PureWow, and they came up with a list of 13 of the most beautiful places in the midwest. I will always give those stories a quick scan, just to see if Michigan is on their list, and we are.

According to PureWow, Michigan's Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is one of the most beautiful spots in our lovely state. I would have to agree with the, it is absolutely beautiful, and I love going there in the summer. In fact, Michigan was the only state that was mentioned twice. Yup, we are that cool.

Pictured Rocks National Seashore, in the Upper Penninsula also made the list, coming in 11th out of 13.  Not bad at all, a pretty respectable showing.

If I was to make up my own list of the 10 most beautiful places in Michigan, my number one would be Mackinaw Island.  It doesn't matter how many times I have been there, which is a lot, I never get tired of its beauty and charm.

I will keep Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore on the list, it really is an awesome place to visit. Grand Haven would also be on my list. Grand Haven is a beachside town, that has great beaches, wonderful restaurants, some of the best breakfasts I have ever had, good shopping, good shopping, and a great place for festivals.  The Coast Guard Festival is one of the best festivals around, it begins next week, July 30th and runs through August 8th. The Coast Guard Festival is so much fun and draws so many people, it is like the population of Grand Haven doubles during that week. If you do decide to check it out, make sure you go to the Art Festival, one of the best in Michigan.

Frankenmuth is lovely all year but shines its brightest during the Christmas Season. So beautiful. Clarkston is on my list, the town just screams charming, from the beautiful homes to the downtown businesses.  One of their restaurants was featured on Tripple D, on the Food Network.

Tawas city, located on Lake Huron, is another beautiful spot to see.  In fact, there is a lot to see if you travel along the state's sunrise coast. Holland, back to the Lake Michigan side of the state, is a lovely place, but the town really shines during the Tulip Festival. I know that is on a lot of folks' bucket lists, and you should make a point to go.  Holland is very beautiful.

Pentwater is another town on the Lake Michigan side.  I try to go there at least once a summer.  That town has darling shops and good restaurants.

Paradise is a lovely little community in the Upper Peninsula, located just south of Whitefish Point. The scenery there is breathtaking. Charlevoix is an awesome city, in fact, my husband and I were just there a couple of weeks ago. Great shopping, great food, but the traffic is a bit crazy. I love Elk Rapids, and Harbor Springs, both of which are nearby. I think my love of these towns has a lot to do with them being beach communities and they are a blast to party in.

No matter where you choose to go, you can't go wrong with a Michigan vacation
