According to a story by Fox News, a man from Las Vegas named Luis Pinto Jr., lost 113 pounds over a 7 month period.  Pinto said that he started doing cardio and high-intensity interval training, he now says he can run a mile in six and a half minutes.  His efforts paid off and Pinto enlisted in the Army.

Over the years those wanting to join the military were becoming more and more unfit and overweight, so new requirements were put in place. Once those requirements are met, a recruiter can move forward with the process.

"That's a human -- he lost the equivalent of a human in seven months," said his recruiter, Staff Sgt. Philip Long in the Fox News article.

Pinto, who is expected to report to basic training in September, said he wanted to become the first member of his family to serve in the Army.
