Phantom whispers in the hallways, strange noises echoing from the floor above, apparitions that simply disappear.  Inside the 1885 Eaton County Courthouse, the building's ghost lore has become as well known as its history.

The lore surrounding the five story red courthouse with its imposing clock tower has made it a popular ghost hunting stop.

Next month the Motor City Ghost Hunters will take 35 guests on an evening tour of the building in search of spooks.

The ground floor of the building houses a few offices.  Over the years, renters have experienced things they can't explain.  They've heard noises and seen movement out of the corners of their eyes.  Once someone reported talking to a woman who they say was simply gone moments later.

A ghost tour of the 1885 Eaton County Courthouse, co hosted by Courthouse Square Association and the Motor City Ghost Hunters, is planned for 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sept. 26.  Tickets can be purchased at the courthouse for $35.00.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
