Did you ever think there would come a time in our lives when we would be asked to wear a mask to protect ourselves against COVID-19? That time has come and that time is now.

According to WILX, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order strengthening her previous order regarding all Michigan residents to wear masks in indoor public spaces and crowded outdoor spaces.

Why is it so difficult to get everyone on the same page? I went grocery shopping over the weekend at Kroger and watched a guy try to get into the store without wearing a mask. Thankfully, a Kroger employee stepped up and said I'm sorry but you cannot enter without a face covering.

The governor's order also requires public safety officers to wear a face mask so long as it doesn't interfere with their job responsibilities.

Governor Whitmer also said,

Wearing a mask is the right thing to do to protect our families, our businesses and our economy. If everyone in Michigan masks up, we can save thousands of lives and put ourselves in a better position to send our kids back to school in the fall. (WILX)

Over the last two weeks, every region in the state of Michigan has seen an uptick in new cases. Most recently, Michigan confirmed 660 additional cases of COVID-19.

I know it's not my place to ask everyone I see to step up and do the right thing, but how hard can it be to wear a face covering to protect other people? This is going to last a very long time and we all need to show respect by masking up to help save lives.
