Statewide Tornado Drill March 27 at 1 p.m.

According to WILX News 10, Your Breaking News and Weather Authority, a voluntary statewide tornado drill is planned in Michigan for Wednesday, March 27 at 1 p.m.

There's always the possibility of severe weather during the spring and summer months.   Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has proclaimed Severe Weather Awareness Week in the state and that runs through Saturday.

Michigan residents, businesses and organizations are encouraged to take part in the effort.

Officials are asking residents to learn about severe weather warnings, put together an emergency preparedness kit, make an emergency plan and compile emergency contacts.

The safety effort includes the Michigan State Police's Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division.
