Lansing's Eastern High school and five elementary buildings are on the state's list of lowest performing schools.

Eastern has appeared on the list in previous years and is being reorganized this fall with new leadership, staff and scheduled changes.

Other Lansing schools on the priority list include Cavanaugh, North, Reo, Riddle and Willow elementary schools.

A number of schools in mid-Michigan achieved reward status, which is a designation for top-performing schools, including:  Dewitt High School, Haslett's Murphy Elementary, Four buildings in Okemos:  Chippewa, Kinawa, Cornell and the public Montessori.

The Lansing State Journal has the rest of the story.
