State Appeals Order Letting Gyms to Open
It has been a long time coming when it comes to working out at your favorite local gym. And based on what I've heard so far, many are ready for their daily workout routine to get started.
According to WILX, the state is appealing a federal judge's ruling that gave gyms the go ahead to open meaning we'll now have to wait and see what an appeals court has to say.
Right now, some gyms are getting ready to reopen once they get the green light to do so.
Mind Body Symmetry is one of the many gyms and studios reopening this Thursday, based on the outcome of court rulings.
Grand Rapids U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney said for gyms to reopen, they must follow workplace safety standards laid out in Governor Gretchen Whitmer's executive orders.
Crunch Fitness plans on reopening to about 50% capacity on Thursday but says they are not worried about spacing or turning anyone away.
As for masks, staff at Mind Body Symmetry and Crunch Fitness will be wearing masks at all times.
Firefly Hot Yoga said it hopes to reopen sometime in mid-July. Previously, Governor Whitmer said gyms could reopen statewide by July 4 if the downward trend in COVID-19 cases continued.
I can tell you this, both of my kids Love working out and are hoping most gyms will open by Thursday. A lot of people have been self isolating and many have gained a few pounds by stress eating during the coronavirus pandemic. It's time to get back to the gym!
