There are so many roads in the mid-Michigan area that need to be repaved or resurfaced. One road that was repaved most recently was Mount Hope between Aurelius and Harrison roads.

According to the Lansing State Journal, Ingham County will get a state grant to help repave a section of Lake Lansing Road near Eastwood Towne Center next year.

The $375,000 Transportation Economic Development Fund grant was announced Thursday by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

It will cover part of the nearly $1.6 million cost to improve Lake Lansing Road between Wood Street in Lansing Township and West Road, just east of U.S. 127 in East Lansing.

The project includes asphalt resurfacing from Wood Street and Preyde Boulevard and full depth concrete and joint repairs between Preyde Boulevard and West Road.

Lake Lansing Road is a major commercial route that provides access to U.S. 127 and Interstates 69 and 96. The road is deteriorating from heavy truck traffic.

Now that the grant has been awarded, the project is scheduled for 2021.
