When it comes to your doctor's appointment, there are things you need to know before you head in for your next visit.

The one thing I can tell you is that most doctors are not accepting new patients because things have been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to McLaren and the Lansing State Journal, some things have changed, but your care hasn't. If you haven't been to the doctor's office lately, you will notice several changes.

For example: Some things during your visit might take a little longer. The check in and checkout processes are taking a few more minutes. They are cleaning each room between patients and paying extra attention to frequently touched areas.

I remember the last time I went to my doctor's office for an appointment, generally speaking, anything you could touch or stand on was removed from the office.

It's all about simple steps that will help everyone stay safe. That includes following the same social distancing and hand hygiene guidelines you're already used to.

That includes washing your hands with soap for 20 seconds or using hand sanitizer, keeping 6 feet of space between yourself and others, and wearing a face covering.

It's so important to wear a face covering, because you are protecting others around you. Just make sure the face mask covers your nose and mouth.

By the way,"McLaren is going above and beyond to protect patients and caregivers, including changing waiting rooms to allow for simpler social distancing and following updated CDC guidelines." (LSJ)
