A new Missouri retirement home in Independence has come up with what I think is the absolute best idea.  They are giving homeless senior dogs that don't get adopted a place to roam and settle in.

The Sanctuary for these older pups is named after a 10 year old beagle-basset that they had adopted.  This place has kennels for around 20 dogs to be housed together and a large yard for them to roam.  Shep's Place Senior Dog Sanctuary opened about two weeks ago in the Kansas city suburb of Independence.  The Founder Russ Clothier said he came up with the idea after he was volunteering at a shelter and saw elderly dogs never finding a new home.  He decided  the dogs need to be spending their "golden days in retirement."

I love this man and his brilliant idea.  Russ says the sanctuary takes only dogs that, as he put it, fall through the cracks and can't find a home through a shelter.
