Potter Park Zoo has taken in a 1 year old male Pallas' cat named Olaf, who came from the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.

The Pallas' cat hails from central Asia and is classified as near threatened, which means it is in danger of possibly becoming extinct in the near future.

Pallas' cats can live in extremely cold conditions, thanks to their thick grey and brown coat.  Pallas' cats weigh between 6 and 11 pounds and can live at altitudes of up to 10,000 feet.

Olaf is currently on exhibit at Potter Park Zoo in an enclosure across from the snow leopard.   Click on the Lansing State Journal for more information.
