The country's first Olympic gold medalists in ice dancing joined Gov. Rick Snyder at the Capitol to declare Michigan "the ice dancing capital of the world."

Meryl Davis and Charlie White, born and raised in Michigan, were honored at the Capitol by Snyder and legislative leaders.  Davis and White took the gold metal at the recent Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Davis and White soon will appear on ABC TV's "Dancing with the Stars."   The two also shot a public service announcement with Snyder  encouraging Michigan residents to be more active and healthy by not smoking and by improving eating habits, exercising and getting annual physicals.
