New Rustic Campground at Wilderness State Park Near Mackinaw

When was the last time you took your family camping?  My favorite camping is rustic, without electricity, loud music, engines or people.  Here's some good news, Wilderness State Park west of Mackinaw City is about to open 10 new rustic campsites with views of Lake Michigan.

According to the Detroit Free Press, rustic camping is growing in popularity, especially among millennials.  Surveys show that 33 percent of campers are tent campers, and they want more tent camping.

Wilderness surveys find that rustic tent campers are more likely to be families or millennials, a generation that the camping community absolutely must have if it is to survive.

Wilderness officials are so convinced that rustic is trending up that it is planning to  add 16 waterfront rustic sites within the next year.
