Back on October 22, 1966, the Beach Boys performed at Jenison Field House on the MSU campus...and I was there for that show!

The Standells - whose biggest hit was "Dirty Water" in 1966 - was the opening band...it was one of the greatest shows I'd ever been to...and it was my very first concert experience as well!

The Beach Boys had just released "Good Vibrations" 12 days earlier...October 10...and it was already a well known song when the group appeared on campus.

AND NOW! In celebration of the group's 50th anniversary of their landmark "Pet Sounds" album (released May 16, 1966), Capitol Records has added some unreleased live tracks to the five-disc box set that was just released on June 10. These live tracks feature three from that MSU appearance: "Wouldn't It Be Nice," "Sloop John B" and "God Only Knows."

Now I can re-live that first concert experience and MSU can be proud that they were included in this brand new box set!
