Most Expensive Homes Bordering Michigan Lakes

I'm not an expert by any means when it comes to expensive homes that can be found bordering Lake Michigan, or for that matter any inland lake.

We all know that Michigan has more than 11,000 inland lakes which is pretty amazing. And I can tell you that lakefront property is a hot commodity.

When my wife and I traveled recently to Petoskey and Harbor Springs, we did a lot of driving just to look at beautiful waterfront homes that were nothing short of spectacular.

In Harbor Springs for example, we didn't price any homes but we looked at homes on or near Lake Michigan that were worth anywhere from $500,000 to over a million dollars.

And we're talking big beautiful homes that were Victorian style, colonial, mansions, cottages, and they all looked very expensive. All of the homes we looked at were well maintained and the landscaping was picture perfect.

I was looking up more information about the most expensive homes along Michigan lakes and found what I was looking for.

There's an article from mlive.com that shows their list of the top 10 Michigan lakes with the most expensive homes.

According to mlive.com, here are some of the most expensive homes bordering Michigan lakes:

1. Orchard Lake. First of all, Orchard lake is an extremely large lake here in Michigan and the average list price for lakefront property is just over $2 million.  (Yikes)

2. Lake Michigan: South Haven area. Not sure if you've ever been to this beautiful area, but homes in the South Haven area on the water cost just over $1 million.

3. Lake Michigan: Petoskey area. My wife and I were just there recently. Very nice homes along Little Traverse Bay which cost over $1 million.

4. Upper Long Lake. Not really familiar with this lake although homes along the water front cost close to $2 million. Upper Long Lake has a huge shoreline several miles long.

Even though I personally could never afford these types of beautiful homes, they are truly amazing to look at.
