Moores Park Pool Should Be Saved
According to the Lansing State Journal, Moores Park Pool is old and in need of extensive repairs. Its century long run of providing water fun to kids and adults could be coming to an end.
I can remember a long time ago when I was in high school, a bunch of my friends would get together and go to Moores Park pool and swim for hours at a time.
So now it come to this. The costs of repair could be too high to justify on practical grounds.
The city could well lose a gem of a spot without a major effort to save it. The pool deserves everything we can do to restore it.
It was built in 1922, one of the earliest designed by Wesley Bintz, a Lansing engineer who was part of the city engineering staff for close to three years.
The Moores Park Pool is egg shaped and above ground with the locker rooms underneath. It's the oldest remaining Blintz pool still in operation.
