Michigan Woman Was Cited for Trying to Cross Mackinac Bridge

Not that I'm supporting the woman who tried to cross a closed Mackinac Bridge, but what would you do if you lived in the U.P. and you couldn't get home due to hazardous weather?

That is exactly what happened to a Michigan woman who was actually cited when she tried to cross a closed Mackinac Bridge.

According to mlive.com:

The Mackinac Bridge was closed for nearly 12 hours due to hazardous weather conditions. It also closed on March 25 due to falling ice.

So apparently this woman is from Newberry, which is in the Upper Peninsula. In fact Newberry is considered the southern gateway to the Tahquamenon Falls area and was designated as the "Moose Capital of Michigan."

Okay I get this, the nice lady wanted to get home so she decided to take the law into her own hands by attempting to walk across the 5 mile Mackinac Bridge.

Did she succeed? No she did not! Police officers cited her for not following lawful orders and disregarding traffic signs posted in plain view.

The Mackinac City Police Department responded to the bridge connecting Michigan's two peninsulas after the Mackinac Bridge Authority reported there was a car parked on I-75 near the south end of the bridge.

I'm not taking this lady's side, but I kind of feel sorry for her. She just wanted to go home and didn't want to keep waiting for hours on end to cross the Mackinac Bridge to get to her home in Newberry.

She sure is a spunky woman. She tried to cross the Mackinac Bridge the first time and failed. She came back an hour later after police warned her not to do it. The police department stopped her again and was escorted off the bridge with a citation.
