Michigan State Representative Jamie Thompson (28th District) took to Twitter after seeing a viral video shot in a Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) terminal.

Truly Oblivious Behavior and Unacceptable Treatment of TSA Service Animal

The video features a TSA agent pacing back and forth in the terminal, and with each turn, the dog is pulled...hard. The agent is either completely unaware of just how abusive he is being or just doesn't care.

Rep. Thompson, after having the incident brought to her attention, released the video on her own Twitter account with the following message:

This disturbing video of a detection dog being aggressively pulled by its handler at Detroit Metro Airport has come to my attention. These dogs spend much of their lives keeping travelers and fellow airport staff safe, so this video was very troubling. Since this involved a TSA agent, Detroit Metro has referred this matter to TSA and they are investigating. In response to news reports, TSA has said the employee in the video has been removed from handling duties pending the completion of the investigation. I will continue to monitor this situation. People and families across our region frequent Detroit Metro every day, and it’s important to make sure proper protocols are being followed.

See the video and the TSA statement following it going viral. Thank you to our Rep. Thompson for sticking up for our four-legged best friends.
