Michigan State May Be Shortening Tailgating Hours for 2016 Football Season
Michigan State might be cutting back on tailgating time in the upcoming football season.
Flyers reportedly posted near donor parking over the weekend said the university's 7/9/1 rule would be changing in 2016. The rule refers to when tailgating lots open for football games at different kickoff times at MSU: noon games called for tailgating to begin at 7 a.m., 3:30 p.m. games allowed for a 9 a.m. tailgating start, and night games called for a 1 p.m. tailgating start.
But the flyers said the rule would be changing to 7/10:30/3 for the 2016 football season, meaning noon games would be unaffected, but 3:30 p.m. kickoffs would now push the tailgating start time back to 10:30 a.m., and night games would not allow tailgating until 3 p.m.
A link on MSU's Spartan Fund page detailing the tailgate time changes had surfaced, but now the page returns a "404 Not Found" error.
MSU's game day web page still reflects the "7/9/1" rule.
