What is the most beautiful town in Michigan?

Even though there are the tongue-in-cheek naysayers who think their town, city, or village “stinks” and is “crummy”, many Michigan residents stand by their hometowns and feel theirs is the ‘most beautiful’.

As far as a legitimate “Most Beautiful Place” - again, it’s all in someone’s perception. Sure, some articles say their Top Ten lists are culled from data including crime, population, unemployment, location, yada yada etc…..but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Although I agree with the beauty of all the towns listed below, I don’t need to go to one of our Great Lakes to find some of our most attractive, beautiful places. Watching a sunset from the top of a hill, a thick forest during October, or even taking a hiking trail that leads us through some of our state's gorgeous sceneries.

So, according to theculturetrip.com, here is their list of
Michigan’s Most Beautiful Towns:
10) ISLE ROYALE
9) CHARLEVOIX
8) MARQUETTE
7) MACKINAC ISLAND
6) GRAND RAPIDS
5) FRANKENMUTH
4) ANN ARBOR
3) ONTONAGON COUNTY
2) TRAVERSE CITY
1) SOUTH HAVEN.

That’s right – surprisingly, South Haven beat out Mackinac Island…and Ontonagon County is not a town.....at least on that particular web site. Even though I dig Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids, I feel odd having them on this list…they seem to be too ‘city-ish’ to be included here. But what do I know.

Anyway, South Haven was the answer we were looking for. So with that, the gallery below has a good many photos showing old South Haven from over 100 years ago, and a few from the 2000s to show you how beautiful it actually is.
