This is one of the craziest things I've ever heard of. A man from Michigan was walking to a Detroit Tigers baseball game and then all of a sudden, he fell at least 15 feet to the ground below where cars were traveling.

This man is lucky to be alive, thank goodness for that. His name is Ely Hydes and he was on the Spruce Street pedestrian bridge that crosses over M-10 where all of a sudden, concrete gave way, which formed a hole and down went Hydes.

According to mlive.com, here's what Ely Hydes had to say:

“I remember thinking, ‘I hope I’m not over the freeway.’ I landed about six feet from the traffic. ... After I hit the ground I got the wind knocked out of me pretty good,” Hydes told the Detroit News.

What a dangerous situation to be in for crying out loud. No one should have to fear for their life by walking across a pedestrian bridge only to end up falling through a concrete hole.

And the fact that Hydes missed ongoing traffic by only six or more feet. That could have been a tragic situation. I can tell you that Ely is doing fine even though he's a bit bruised right now.

Mlive.com and final words from Ely Hydes:

As for Hydes, he said that after he fell through the concrete, he got up and informed police of the issue before continuing on to the game. Hydes eventually went to the hospital a few days later. “I’m a giant walking bruise right now,” Hydes said.

Best of luck to Ely Hydes and please stay away from old pedestrian bridges!
