He was known as 'Big John', standing 6foot 3inches tall, Michigan Congressman John Dingell passed away at the age of 92.

His amazing career spanned nearly 60 years, and he served under 11 Presidents, starting with Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Back in 2014 Dingell was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Obama, who said that "John had built a peerless record of his own", the Congressman was right in the front leading the fight for civil rights.

Dingell had quite a career ,he was drafted into the Army when he was 18 years old, and ended up going into infantry officer training, which he later said "made a man out of him and taught him how to be a leader.

The list of his accomplishments is a long one, but he did not always agree with his fellow Democrats all the time.  Dingell was a pro-gun Democrat and even the NRA gave him high marks , calling the Congressman a staunch defender of the second amendment.
