I often wonder how long it will take for mailed letters or bills to reach their destination? Sometimes I will mail out my car insurance bill just a few days before it's due just hoping it makes it before the deadline. Not even sure if it does.

According to the Lansing State Journal, they decided to mail letters to check delivery times which I think is a great idea. Here's what LSJ came up with:

1. If six first class letters are mailed from St. Johns, how long until they arrive in Lansing? Answer: Two days.

2. How about two letters mailed from downtown Lansing? Answer: Three days.

The Lansing State Journal mailed more than 100 letters from mailboxes throughout Greater Lansing this fall and found that 99% of them arrived at their destinations on Lansing's east and west sides within two to three days.

The U.S. Postal Service's expected delivery range for first class letters is within three days. Those letters were not delayed.

With less than 7 days to go until Election Day, over 70 million early votes have been cast as of Tuesday afternoon.

Record numbers of Americans are voting by mail in the 2020 presidential election as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

If you're concerned about your mail arriving on time, you can always leave your absentee ballot at your local clerk's office or, in Lansing, at one of 15 drop boxes. Or you can vote in person at the polls between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov.3. (LSJ)
