Mayor Virg Bernero kicked off the Lansing Loses a Million Celebrity Health Challenge at the Lansing City Market.

Through November, at least 10 teams of 5 to 15 people will compete to lose weight, log exercise miles and participate in monthly challenges to win $2,500 for a local charity of their choice.

The challenge is part of Bernero's effort to help the metro Lansing area lose a collective one million pounds, which he announced by publicly weighing himself during his State of the City address in January.

All Lansing Loses a Million health challenge events are free and open to anyone, whether registered as a team or not.  Friday is the deadline to register as a team in order to compete for the $2,500 toward a local charity of your choice.

To register, email your list of team members to info@lettucelivewell.org and fill out a free profile on lansinglosesamillion.com.
