It's the start of a brand new month and that means there are things to do in and around Greater Lansing in the month of October.

According to the Lansing State Journal, there are several local events that are submitted via email that might meet one of your specific needs.

Everything from getting a flu shot in Williamston to being a part of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra's reverse raffle and silent auction.

Let's begin with seniors getting their flu shots at the Williamston Area Senior Center on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Flu shots provided by Rite Aid of Okemos. Blood Pressure checks will be provided as well by Willows of Okemos.

On Wednesday, Oct. 7, you can join the Capital Area District Libraries online on the first and third Wednesdays of the month for an escape room challenge. You may even win a prize. I've never tried one of those escape rooms yet but I hear that they're fun and challenging.

Does acting interest you? "Registration is open for the 2020-21 season of ''Take it From the Top," which is a series of engaging virtual classes offered through Wharton Center Institute for Arts & Creativity. Here's the cool part, you can actually train with a brilliant team of leading Broadway professionals. This all starts on Oct. 13." (LSJ)

"How about the 2020 Michigan Women's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony taking place the week of Oct. 19. This event is set to honor six exceptional Michigan women in a virtual event. It will be filmed from the Radisson Hotel in Lansing. Ticket proceeds benefit the Michigan Women's Historical Center and Hall of Fame." (LSJ)
