Local High School Football Teams Climb State Football Poll

The climb up the state rankings continued for the Dewitt and Portland football teams.  The Panthers and Raiders, who each captured shares of league titles with victories Friday, moved up in the Associated Press state high school football rankings once again.

According to the Lansing State Journal, Dewitt jumped two spots to No. 7 in Division 3 this week, while Portland moved up a spot and into a tie with Frankenmuth at No. 4 in the latest Division 5 poll.

Eight teams from the Lansing area are in this week's rankings with Ithaca continuing to lead the way at No. 1 in Division 5.  The Yellowjackets posted their 61st consecutive regular season win by knocking off Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary last week.
